This is a little off-beat for a beauty blog, but I’ve been stirred greatly tonight. This won’t be a long post, but I hope you can hear it loud and clear.
I was out for dinner this evening with my cousin and we got chatting with our waiter. We asked where he was from. He replied ‘Syria’. He then told us that he couldn’t walk for two hours today because he felt so sick at watching his home town being destroyed. It was clear that he was distraught inside, and understandably so. There were no possible words to console him. Words fail me for how much I wanted to soothe his pain, but nothing could ever possibly come close. I don’t know enough about the politics behind Syria’s current situation, but I can see that hearts are breaking.
I can’t explain how much this stirred me. I felt immensely sick that anyone should endure this pain and suffering.
So please everyone, take a quick moment to think about how lucky you really are. For all of the rough edges that might surround your life: forgive and forget. Tell those you love that you love them. Trauma and pain surrounds so many lives around the world, the suffering is vast. So please, forgive any preaching, and appreciate what you have. Whether you are religious or not, please pray and send your thoughts to those in times of suffering and need.
Donations may not solve the cause of the problems, but it will help families in times of need – regardless of religion or political persuasion. We are all humans, why should anyone be suffering this intolerable pain? Please spare a thought and a couple of pounds for Syrian Relief, and before you go to bed – make sure you tell those you love how much they mean to you…
Love your family, forgive their mistakes, and extend your warmth and love to others around you. A little bit of love can go a very long way.
